Sanguisugabogg have returned with the new stand-alone single and video “Permanently Fucked.”

The death metal upstarts have never shied from the profane and grotesque, both in music and visuals, so “Permanently Fucked” and its gory video are very on-brand for the band.

This is grinding death metal of the old-school vein, complete with the obligatory deep guttural vocals, horrific lyrical content, and an excessively tight snare drum. Tectonic death-doom breakdowns are another trademark of the ‘bogg, and they make sure to include a couple of those mosh-inducing sections in this five-minute extreme metal workout.

“The meaning of the song is a drastically blown out of proportion way of showing how much you love someone,” the band revealed in a collective statement. “We got inspiration of the song from the 2018 horror film Pet where Dominic Monaghan’s character volunteers himself as a vice for Ksenia Solo’s character so she can torture and humiliate them and they’re bound to their cage so she doesn’t free the urge to murder someone instinctively and doesn’t get arrested or imprisoned for killing people.”

This premise is replicated, to an extent, in the aforementioned music video. Mainly a stark performance clip, there are also brief cutaways to a caged figure oozing enough blood to perturb some viewers (though, to be fair, you’re kinda asking for it if you’re indulging Sanguisugabogg in the first place).

The single — the first new music from the band since 2023’s Homicidal Ecstasy — arrives ahead of Sanguisugabogg’s upcoming tour supporting Lorna Shore. Dates kick off in September (get tickets here).
