TOP STORY: Man United linked with Bologna’s Zirkzee

Manchester United are interested in a move for Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee, according to Sky Sports Deutschland’s Florian Plettenberg.

The Premier League side are reported to be long-term admirers of the 23-year-old, having kept close tabs on him in January, and it is now said that “concrete talks” are underway with his representatives.

AC Milan have been one of the sides linked strongly with Zirkzee recently, and the Red Devils are reportedly aware of their interest in his signature, but while the Rossoneri are still in the race, there is optimism from Old Trafford that they could be able to successfully win the race for him. He has a release clause in his current contract that can be activated for £34 million.

Zirkzee, who is currently at the European Championship with the Netherlands scored 11 goals while assisting another four in 36 Serie A matches last season.

PAPER GOSSIP

Chelsea are working on a move to sign Atletico Madrid striker Samu Omorodion, reports Gianluca Di Marzio. The Blues are reported to have had a €40m approach turned down for the 20-year-old, and they are now quickly working to submit a new proposal to the LaLiga side after placing him at the top of their shortlist in their search for a forward. Omorodion enjoyed bright performances against Real Madrid and Barcelona while on loan at Deportivo Alaves last season.

Aston Villa‘s progress in their move for Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie has stalled, reports the Telegraph. The Villans have been hopeful of landing the 25-year-old as part of a deal that includes Douglas Luiz heading the other way, but the latest indicates that they are now “frustrated” with the negotiations. McKennie made 39 appearances across all competitions for the Bianconeri last season.

– Two players in the Premier League are on the radar of Barcelona, reports Sport. 27-year-old Liverpool winger Luis Díaz is reportedly one of their top options for their forward line, while they also remain interested in Newcastle midfielder Bruno Guimarães. It is said that the Blaugrana expect a long transfer window this summer, with the club required to take care of their current Financial Fair Play (FFP) situation.

– Multiple clubs in Saudi Arabia are interested in Liverpool centre-back Virgil van Dijk, reports Team Talk. Al-Nassr are reported to be the side at the front of the queue for the 32-year-old, having identified him as a potential replacement for Aymeric Laporte, who is reported to be looking to leave the Saudi Pro League.

Everton are keen on Aston Villa midfielder Tim Iroegbunam, reports the Daily Mail. The Toffees are said to be looking at a £10m deal for the 20-year-old, as a potential option that could help replace Amadou Onana. Onana, 22, is continuing to be linked with a move away from Goodison Park, and it is reported that the club hierarchy are willing to move him on if they receive an offer worth £50m.
